Fasolo moving “closer” to joining Carlton reports McClure

Collingwood’s Alex Fasolo is moving “closer to the entrance at Carlton”, according to SEN Time On host Sam McClure.

Fasolo is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. The 26-year-old was linked to West Coast last season.

Fasolo has played just one game this season due to injuries and form.

“I get the sense that there may be another player, à la Heath Scotland, à la Daisy Thomas, going from Collingwood to Carlton and it’s Alex Fasolo who I am referring to,” McClure told SEN’s Time On.

“He has only played one game this year, he has been injured with an ankle and shoulder, he has struggled for form as well, currently playing in the VFL.

“The 26-year-old, as I understand it, his management is in discussions with Carlton and although both parties will say it’s very early, I get the strong impression that Alex Fasolo will be joining Carlton on a three-year deal, if and when it happens.

“Fasolo is a free agent, so it would cost Carlton nothing via trade.

“It would get compensation to Collingwood, if it’s a three-year deal at around average wage which what is being discussed in the early stages of negotiations, that would be about a third-round draft pick as compensation.

“He is a West Australian boy Alex Fasolo, and there is the situation at the moment where both Fremantle and West Coast are watching this situation closely.”
