Koch & McClure give updates on Polec's contract status

Host of SEN’s Time On Sam McClure is confident Jared Polec will be at Arden Street next season.

Polec remains out of contract at Port Adelaide and McClure believes North Melbourne’s offer to him is too good to refuse.

“Polec’s out of contract and has been offered five years at a tick over $700,000 per year by North Melbourne, I just don’t think he can turn that down,” McClure told the AFL Nation pregame show.

“He definitely hasn’t turned it down to North, they’re still very confident that they’ll get him and I think Port Adelaide are resigned to the fact they just can’t get near that number.

“The only way that Polec stays at Port Adelaide is if he has a change of heart, but I think he’ll be at North next year.”

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch was coy when asked about Polec, but said if he does leave, the club will be pushing hard for a good deal.

“I leave that up to the recruitment department and the list managers, but just like any player that we lose, we’ll be aggressive like every other club is,” Koch told the AFL Nation pregame show.

North Melbourne has also been linked to West Coast midfielder Andrew Gaff.
