Mitch McGovern has told the Adelaide Football Club he wants to leave.
The Crows have tonight released a statement saying that the 23-year-old forward has formally requested a trade away from the club.
McGovern has two years remaining on his current contract which will be taken into account during any trade negotiations relating to the Western Australian.
“We are open minded and happy to explore the options available with Mitch and his manager,” Adelaide’s head of football Brett Burton said.
“However, the needs of the Club will be held as a high priority in any possible negotiation, especially given he is a contracted player.”
Part of the Crows statement read: "The Adelaide Football Club can confirm forward Mitch McGovern has requested a trade.
"Both parties also acknowledge the 23-year-old still has a further two years to run on his current contract which he signed late last season."
McGovern, who has been heavily linked with Carlton in recent times, was restricted to just 12 matches this season due to injury.
Having debuted in 2016, he has played 48 games for the Crows, booting 67 goals.
