Toby Greene has come under scrutiny for using the studs of his boots in a marking contest during GWS’ win over Sydney.
The forward stuck his leg out and essentially kicked the Swans defender in the gut in order to create space and take a mark.
He’s been known to do this before, having made contact with Luke Dahlhaus’ face with his boot in 2017.
He was fined $1500 for that incident.
AFL Nation expert commentator Bob Murphy didn’t like what he saw today whatsoever.
“He flirted with it twice (earlier in the game), but he really showed the studs on that third one,” Murphy told AFL Nation.
“I think in terms of the spirit of the game, I just think we can’t have that in the game.”
“I think we need to look at that being a free kick because he’s definitely using it as a tactic.
“We need to look at getting that out of the game via a free kick. It’s not a suspension.”
