Melbourne’s Jake Melksham is the most underrated player in the AFL, according to Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes.
Melksham, 27, enjoyed a break-out year in 2018 for the Demons, booting 32 goals, leading the league for goal assists and bobbed up at vital stages throughout the finals series.
The former Bomber has taken that form into 2019, kicking seven goals from the opening four games and Cornes believes he doesn’t get the credit his performances deserve.
“Jake Melksham is the most underrated player in the competition,” Cornes told SEN’s The Captain’s Run.
“I just thought his performance last night was one of the better 14 disposal games I’ve seen.

“Looking through the best players in the paper today, where’s Jake Melksham? He’s not there. Looking at his Brownlow votes, seven in his career … please.”
Melksham had 14 touches, kicked a goal and had four goal assists in Melbourne’s 22-point win over Sydney last night – the club’s first victory of the season.
The forward has 117 majors in 160 games since debuting in 2010.
