Utah Jazz star Joe Ingles could miss the FIBA Basketball World Cup, as he decides whether to have finger surgery or not.
Sportsday’s Tom Morris is reporting that if Ingles is to have the surgery, he could miss the tournament in August.
“My sources tell me that Joe Ingles, the Utah Jazz player, a very good Australian basketballer, is weighing up whether to have finger surgery,” he told 3AW’s Sportsday.
“There’s a bit of debate whether he should or shouldn’t have it ahead of the Olympics (World Cup).
“If you put two and two together, that appears to be the situation at the moment.”
Ingles has represented Australia three times in the Olympics and twice in the FIBA World Championships.
The 31-year-old has played 406 NBA games for the Utah Jazz over five years.
Australia kicks off its World Cup campaign against Canada on September 1 in China.
