AFL allows banned Magpie to make VFL return

Suspended Collingwood forward Jaidyn Stephenson will return via the VFL this weekend.

It will be Stephenson’s first outing since being slapped with a 10-game suspension for placing bets on matches that involved his own team.

The AFL allowed the young Pie to take part in Saturday’s game against Box Hill as his ban will cease on Friday night.

“His attitude and his work rate has been amazing. Jaidyn plays VFL on Saturday,” coach Nathan Buckley told reporters.

The fixture quirk allows Stephenson the opportunity to gain valuable minutes before the club's finals campaign.

Collingwood conclude their home-and-away campaign against Essendon at the MCG on Friday night.
