Bob Murphy has hailed Western Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli a “generational player”.
Since arriving at Whitten Oval, Bontempelli’s impact has been profound, growing into one of the finest midfielders in the game.
The 23-year-old added the 2019 AFLCA Player of the Year award to a CV that already boasts two best and fairest awards, an All-Australian blazer and a premiership in 2016.
Murphy, a 312-game great with the Bulldogs, couldn’t speak highly enough of the Brownlow Medal fancy.
“He’s a generational player,” Murphy told SEN’s Bob and Andy.
“The Bulldogs had Chris Grant 25 years ago and they’ve got Bontempelli now. There are certain players that are different to the rest.
“At the time that Marcus Bontempelli came to the football club, if we could have put into a computer program that we need this kind of player and this kind of character, it spat out Marcus Bontempelli.
“He is a football Jesus.”
Bontempelli has played 126 games in the red, white and blue since taken with pick No.4 in the 2013 AFL Draft.
The Dogs will face GWS at Giants Stadium in an elimination final showdown next Saturday afternoon.
