Port Adelaide is “in the box seat” to retain midfielder Karl Amon, according to manager Liam Pickering.
Amon, who is out of contract with the Power, has been linked with a return to Victoria with reports indicating he is set to request a trade for a second straight year.
The 24-year-old had an impressive backend to the 2019 season with coach Ken Hinkley “comfortable” and “confident” he will remain at Alberton beyond this year.
“We’re catching up this afternoon. He’s back in Melbourne,” Pickering told SEN SA Breakfast.
“I’d say an announcement will be imminent. There’s a fair bit of interest in Karl, he’s had a really good season.
“They (Port Adelaide) are in the box seat, I wouldn’t be too stressed.”
Amon has played 59 games for Port since he was selected with pick No.68 in the 2013 AFL Draft.
