Harley Bennell has been the subject of a lot of speculation this off-season after his delisting by Fremantle and Demons midfielder James Harmes believes that the midfielder possesses the skills his team are missing.
It looks as if Melbourne are the team in the box seat to sign Bennell with the 27-year-old having had a medical at the club this week.
“We picked up two quality players in (Ed) Langdon and (Adam) Tomlinson and if we get Harley I’d be absolutely stoked,” Harmes said on SEN's Time On.
“I think he adds a lot of class and speed and that’s probably what we’ve missed the last two years so I’d be absolutely rapt if we could get him.
“I haven’t personally (spoken to him) but I know a fair few boys have so fingers crossed and we’ll see what happens."
Bennell only managed to play two games for Fremantle in four years on the Dockers list after bursting onto the scene with Gold Coast.
James Harmes yesterday signed a long-term deal with Melbourne that will keep him at the club until at least 2024.
