Kevin Sheehan has thrown up two names who he thinks could go at pick No.3 in this year’s draft.
With Matthew Rowell and Noah Anderson expected to be taken at one and two respectively, the third selection, currently held by Melbourne, remains wide open.
According to Sheehan, Dandenong Stingrays defender Hayden Young and Gippsland Power midfielder Sam Flanders are two best players in contention to be called out on draft night beind Rowell and Anderson.
“I think the next best player is a kid called Hayden Young,” Sheehan told SEN SA’s Dwayne’s World.
“A kid that plays across half-back, plays for Vic Country and Dandenong Stingrays – where he captained the side – he is a best and fairest winner and an All-Australian.
“There’s a bit of (Dane) Rampe about him; he’s a left-footer, intercept marker, really takes them on with his kicking – he is a magnificent left-foot kick.
“He is right there in the mix, along with a kid called Sam Flanders, had a fantastic year.
“Think of Christian Petracca … a strongly built, ready-to-run player. A best and fairest winner this year and an All-Australia this year.”
The 2019 National Draft commences on November 27.
