The VFL has announced that the 2020 season will be in action in early August.
A statement released this afternoon has confirmed that the VFL will commence on August 1 with eight clubs to participate in a seven-round season.
The clubs are: Box Hill, Casey Demons, Coburg, Frankston, Port Melbourne, Sandringham, Werribee and Williamstown.
The clubs in question are permitted to resume full-contact training from July 13.
The top four clubs at the conclusion of the seven home and away rounds will contest a three-week finals series, concluding with the VFL Grand Final on October 10.
Reigning premier Richmond along with fellow AFL affiliate clubs Hawthorn, Collingwood, North Melbourne, Geelong and Footscray (Western Bulldogs) will play no part in the 2020 VFL season.
Additionally, the VFLW season will take place as the VFLW Super Series which will see four clubs play three matches each in September.
