Newly appointed Melbourne Victory head coach Grant Brebner will be targeting players capable of executing his attacking philosophy.
Brebner was officially unveiled as the club’s new full-time coach on Monday after taking charge on an interim basis following the departure of Carlos Salvachua.
Victory will look to strengthen their attack with top marksman and former club captain Ola Toivonen returning to Europe and Socceroos forward Andew Nabbout poised to join Perth Glory.
“It’s easy for coaches and people to say we want to play attacking and entertaining football,” Brebner told SEN Breakfast.
“But we’re in a results-based industry and of course we need to get results, particularly after this season.
“Our fans and members have become used to a style of play and that is attacking football, that is being on the front foot, that is pressing really high and we saw this season that we have strayed away from that.
“So I need to analyse the group that I have."
Signing leaders is also high on Brebner’s wish list as the four-time A-League champions look to recover from a horror 10th-place finish in the 2019/2020 season.
“I really need to work hard on recruitment and signing players that can do all that but also players that want to take on more responsibility – be leaders," he said.
“When you’re standing in the tunnel before the game, they have a presence, we can intimidate.
“There’s a lot to think about but certainly recruitment is going to be massive for us.”
