Kane Cornes believes Essendon small forward Orazio Fantasia will once again request a trade home to South Australia.
Fantasia was close to a move to Port Adelaide in 2019 before electing to stay at the Bombers.
Cornes said that while the small forward will likely request a move back to South Australia, Port Adelaide will not pursue him.
“It was more than rumours, he was well on the way to being a Port Adelaide player last year, a South Australian who wanted to come home,” he told SEN SA Breakfast.
“The story broke from our good friend Marc McGowan at AFL Media halfway through last year that he wanted to return home, Fantasia denied it but in the end that story was bang on.
“For whatever reason, the deal broke down. Port Adelaide wanted him and they were well on the way to getting this trade done and then they were surprised at the backflip Orazio did prior to the trade deadline to stay at the Bombers.
“Orazio Fantasia has committed to leaving and he wants to return home to South Australia should a deal get done.
“It won’t be at Port Adelaide. Fantasia will not be playing at Port Adelaide and Adelaide is very interested in getting Orazio Fantasia to the Adelaide Football Club.
“The reason he won’t be at Port Adelaide … once bitten twice shy.
“They were a little bit perplexed as to why he didn’t end up coming to Port Adelaide and they’re not going to pursue that anymore.”
