Melbourne forward Bayley Fritsch has been dropped for this weekend’s clash against St Kilda after turning up late to training.
The 23-year-old, who has played every game this year, missed the start of Melbourne’s captain run and won’t play in Saturday night’s blockbuster in Alice Springs.
“We’ve spoken to Melbourne and the story is spot on,” Andy Maher reported on SEN’s Bob and Andy.
“Bayley Fritsch was late to the captain’s run and is going to be dropped this week. He didn’t break COVID rules and Melbourne is stressing that.
“How does that happen in the hub? They’re in Maroochydore, he’s not on the bus so you’d think he’d be noticed.
“That is a tough, tough line to take. Bayley Fritsch is out of the Melbourne game due to tardiness and won’t play (on Saturday).”
The Dees currently sit in 10th spot on the ladder and will be looking to bounce back after their loss to Western Bulldogs last weekend.
