EXCLUSIVE | Port Adelaide duo sign new long-term deals

EXCLUSIVE

PORT Adelaide powerhouse Charlie Dixon has signed a new three-year contract with the Power.

And it can be revealed that in-form midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper has also agreed to a fresh three-year deal in a huge off-field boost for the top-of-the-ladder club.

There were jubilant scenes at Alberton on Monday morning when the Port players were told that Dixon and Powell-Pepper were staying for the long term.

Dixon, 29, has shone as one of the most dominant key forwards in the competition this year in a stunning return to form and fitness for Ken Hinkley’s high-flying side.

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes told SEN’s Crunch Time on Saturday that Dixon was a certainty to stay at Alberton and that his signature was imminent.

The hulking spearhead was linked with a move to Brisbane by Adelaide football director Mark Ricciuto, who said the Lions had offered a four-year deal in a bid to lure him to the Gabba.

Powell-Pepper’s career-best campaign has been rewarded with a three-year contract that also locks him in at the Power until at least the end of 2023.

The rugged onballer was linked with a move to Essendon during last year’s trade period, but has been reinvigorated by a move to half-forward and has been eager to re-sign.
