TWO years after he was nearly squeezed out of GWS, Jeremy Finlayson is again a real chance of leaving the club.
It’s understood some progress had been made on a new deal for the out of contract key forward, but those talks stalled recently.
Finlayson has not been seen at senior level since Round 12 when he was dropped after the Giants’ humiliating loss to the Swans.
Now the four-goal emergence of young tall Jake Riccardi has cast more cloud on Finlayson’s future.
The left-footer was put on the trade table at the end of 2018 - only three months after signing a two-year deal – before staying and kicking 44.25 in a career-best 2019.
But the Giants have also got Jeremy Cameron – who’s also out of contract - Harry Himmelberg and Riccardi among their marking options inside 50m.
The cap squeeze remains at the Giants, but Finlayson could be the one without a chair when the music stops given the depth Leon Cameron has in his key forward stocks.
Certainly, rival clubs deem him gettable and the interest is there and increasing all the time.
