Newly appointed Broncos coach Kevin Walters believes he can get million-dollar playmaker Anthony Milford back to his best under his tutelage.
Speaking at an event last night hosted by Pat Welsh from SEN Breakfast with Pat and Heals, Walters is said to be taking on returning Milford to form as a “personal challenge”, in what is exciting news for Broncos fans.
In what was meant to be a State of Origin event, it turned out to be in effect the first official function Walters has undertaken as the new Broncos head coach.
According to Welsh, Walters was “chuffed” as the crowd received his popular appointment positively.
While Walters conceded that he has “no doubt that the club is fractured”, he believes that Milford has the ability to get to the level that in form Souths five-eighth Cody Walker is currently playing at.
Walker recently turned in a best afield performance in Souths 60-8 drubbing of the Roosters, and if Milford can reach those levels of output, the Broncos' destiny in season 2021 may change dramatically.
Throughout the night, Walters was asked about the potential acquisition of Craig Bellamy to be his director of coaching.
According to Welsh, Walters is “quite open” to having Bellamy involved, in what would be a massive boost for the struggling club.
Walters will begin his official coaching duties on November 1, and Broncos fans will be hoping that the former Queensland coach can change the trajectory of the club’s fortunes.
