The race to secure North Melbourne forward Ben Brown is heating up, with Melbourne now believed to be favourites to secure his services.
The Roos put Brown up for trade last month, publicly confirming their intention to entertain a suitable deal with an opposition club as they look to rebuild their list.
St Kilda were earlier believed to be keen to lure the 27-year-old to Moorabbin, but Channel 9’s Damian Barrett reports that the Demons are in pole position to sign him.
“(St Kilda aren’t going after Brown) as much as I believe was the case earlier this year,” he said on Channel 9’s Sunday Footy Show.
“I feel that Melbourne is the club that is now most interested in Ben Brown.
“There was a (push from St Kilda) for him because they want protection for Max King but the way I’m reading it now, Melbourne has moved into the front running spot for him.”
Brown endured a tough 2020 campaign, battling through injury and a form slump to kick just eight goals from nine games.
Despite an indifferent year, Brown has been one of the most prolific forwards in the game in recent seasons, kicking 188 goals between 2017 and 2019.
