Bob Murphy has made his tip for the 2021 Brownlow Medal, attempting to speak it into existence that a defender could win the award.
The last time a non-midfielder won the award was when Adam Goodes won it in 2003 and before that, Scott Wynd in 1992.
Key defenders rarely find themselves in contention, but Murphy is putting his vote behind Collingwood star Darcy Moore.
“Mine is a tip in hope as much as anything,” Murphy told SEN’s Bob and Andy.
“It’s time for a change. Darcy Moore. It’s time. It’s not just about the midfield bulls and contested possessions.”

Andy Maher meanwhile is tipping Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli to win the Brownlow.
Both Murphy and Maher have named Matt Rowell as their Rising Star winner and feel he’ll do so comfortably.
“If you don’t say Matt Rowell, you’re being a little bit cheeky,” Murphy said.
