Brisbane recruit Joe Daniher has continued his flawless pre-season with a dominant performance in Saturday’s scratch match against Gold Coast.
Daniher and fellow key forward Eric Hipwood kicked four goals each in the Lions’ 47-point win over the Suns at Metricon Stadium in their first game working in tandem.
It’s a partnership that is sure to excite Lions fans and could be an important piece to their premiership puzzle in 2021.
Fit-again Daniher hasn't missed a pre-season training session since joining Brisbane from Essendon after being struck down by injury over the last three years.
Lions youngster Cam Rayner was full of praise for Daniher and Hipwood post-game.
“To have those two to kick to, it’s a bit of a bailout option and they’ve worked really hard to work together really well and get that chemistry,” Rayner told lions.com.au.
“When you see Eric at the top of the 60 roll and kick it to Joey, you feel for some of those defenders.
“Joey’s an extraordinary player, we’re very lucky to have him and hopefully he goes well.”
Brisbane will meet the Suns again in the AAMI Community Series on Mach 6.
Chris Fagan's side host Sydney at the Gabba in Round 1 on March 20.
