Gerard Healy thinks Richmond superstar Dustin Martin is already a “certainty” to be named the AFL player of the 21st century.
Martin, 29, added a third premiership and an unprecedented third Norm Smith Medal to his swag of individual accolades last season.
Regarded as one of the best big-game players in the game’s history, Martin has his eye on more team and individual honours with the Tigers premiership window still wide open.
Brownlow Medallist Healy doesn’t think we’ll see another player like Martin anytime soon.
“It goes to show the impact that A-grade generational talents can have,” he told Sportsday.
“We’re talking about a player who I think is already a certainty for the player of the 21st century.
“You tell me somebody else in the next 90 years that is going to win three Norm Smith Medals, because that is going to be the benchmark.
“He’s home.”
Martin and the all-conquering Tigers are striving for a three-peat of premierships and a fourth flag in five years in 2021.
Damien Hardwick’s side start their premiership defence against Carlton at the MCG on Thursday night.
