Garry Lyon believes Richmond defender Dylan Grimes is one of the competition’s best 10 players.
Lyon has had the opportunity to watch both of the Tigers’ games in person so far this season and continues to be impressed with the work of the 2019 All-Australian.
“Dylan Grimes is in my top 10,” the former Melbourne captain told SEN Breakfast.
“I haven’t done it, it’s an easy throwaway, but he is that good.
“He defends two players. He just does it. He’s the best at it.
“I think that’s going to be harder to do as this season wears on because we’re seeing spot-up kicking and that sort of thing.
“I just think he’s getting better and better. When we do top 10s or 20s or whatever it’s always midfielders, it’s always forwards. Grimes is in for me.”
Grimes took eight marks in Richmond’s win over Hawthorn and was key to what was a defensively dominant performance by the Tigers.
Richmond hosts Sydney at the MCG in Round 3 and Grimes will likely find himself either in front of Lance Franklin or lining up on one of the Swans’ young, exciting forwards.
