Essendon defender Zach Reid will make his debut against Brisbane on Saturday night, becoming the club’s third top draft pick to feature at senior level this season.
After Nik Cox and Archie Perkins’ strong starts to their respective AFL careers, the Bombers announced on Thursday night that the highly regarded key defender has been picked for the club’s Round 5 clash.
Reid, who was taken with pick 10 in last year’s draft, will wear Dustin Fletcher’s old number 31 for the first time since the club great retired in 2015.
Saturday night’s clash is one of the highlights of the round, with the match marking Joe Daniher’s first game against the Bombers since he opted to leave at the end of last season as a restricted free agent.
