Father-son selections provide footy fans with large amounts of hope while also bring a little bit of romance to our great game.
Some sons of well-known fathers take to the competition like a duck to water whereas some find it difficult to live up the hype of their old man.
Clubs have more success the others when it comes to father-son selections while some clubs - naturally Gold Coast and GWS - are yet to even experience having the progeny of a past player come through the ranks.
But which club has the highest quantity of quality from their father-son picks?
According to data compiled by SEN’s Andy Maher, the Western Bulldogs head the success strike rate with five of the club’s eight father-sons receiving the tick of approval.
It places the Bulldogs ahead of renowned father-son club Geelong.
“You could argue that Geelong has had the best cluster of players taken,” Maher said on SEN’s Bob & Andy.
“It would be hard to go past Matthew Scarlett, Gary Ablett Junior and Tom Hawkins.
“They’ve had 13 father-sons in history and six of them, according to our data, have been ticks.
“The Western Bulldogs on the other hand have had eight father-sons, five of whom we have got as being ticks. That being Luke Darcy, Mitch Wallis, Tom Liberatore, Lachie Hunter and Zaine Cordy.
“That’s five passes at 62.5%.”
The top eight of father-son success was put together based on who the SEN Drive team feel have been ‘passes’ and/or ‘ticks’.
