Collingwood forward duo Liam McMahon and Will Kelly made a big statement in the VFL, booting a bag of goals each in their side’s win over Frankston on Saturday afternoon.
McMahon was selected with pick 31 in last year’s National Draft and impressed in the game - kicking four goals - and giving interim coach Robert Harvey plenty to think about heading into the final rounds of the season.
Kelly has been on the comeback trail from injury after breaking his collarbone in a pre-season game and was highly impressive in his side’s 39-point win at the Holden Centre, kicking three majors.
Max Lynch, who has played twice at AFL level this year, dominated in the ruck after being omitted this week in favour of the returning Brodie Grundy.
Brayden Sier also put in an impressive performance (24 touches and one goal) as he looks to work his way back in Collingwood’s AFL side.
Former Collingwood and St Kilda midfielder Nathan Freeman collected a game-high 27 touches for Frankston as he continued his recent good form at VFL level.
