West Coast great predicts how the top eight will finish come season's end

West Coast great Peter Sumich has named who he thinks will finish in the top eight come the end of the season.

The champion Eagles forward has predicted the Western Bulldogs to win the minor premiership with Brisbane, Port Adelaide and Geelong finishing in the top four.

Melbourne, Richmond, West Coast and Sydney make up the bottom half of Sumich’s top eight.

Sumich, who kicked 514 goals in 150 games for West Coast, made his top eight predictions on SEN’s The Sporting Capital.

1. Western Bulldogs

“I’ve got them on top.

“I was exposed to them on the weekend against West Coast calling that game for SEN – geez they were good, unbelievable.”

2. Brisbane

“I’ve got them second.

“They’re in a great position. Their stocks have gone up.”

3. Port Adelaide

“I’ve got Port Adelaide finishing third and that fourth and fifth spot is between Melbourne and Geelong.

“Port Adelaide have got a good run home.

“Port have got their knockers but something’s telling me that it might be their year to make another Prelim and maybe make a Grand Final.”

4. Geelong

“It’s just their inconsistency.

“I’m shying away from them slightly. I’ve still got them in fourth position and only percentage will tell the story with Melbourne and Geelong.

“I’m just a little bit nervy about them at the moment.”

5. Melbourne

“I’ve got them probably finishing fourth and maybe even fifth.

“I’ve got them dropping down a bit.”

6. Richmond

“I’ve got Richmond finishing sixth. People wouldn’t want to be writing them off.

“They’re going to win at least six or seven out of the last eight games, I would think.”

7. West Coast

“The two sides that could do some damage are Richmond and West Coast.”

8. Sydney

The Demons currently occupy top spot on the ladder ahead of the Bulldogs, Lions, Power, Cats, Swans, Eagles and Tigers.
