Hawthorn defender Changkuoth Jiath will miss the rest of the season with a PCL injury.
The exciting young Hawk sustained the season-ending injury during the third quarter of Saturday’s loss to Fremantle in Tasmania.
“Unfortunately, CJ has sustained a PCL injury to that knee,” Hawthorn Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd told the club’s website.
“Generally with a PCL injury, we don't get much change in six-to-eight weeks, even for the lower grade ones so that will mean he will not be available to play for the remainder of the season.
“On a positive note, we don't anticipate this being a long-term issue for CJ and we think he will recover quite well from the injury.”
Defender Jack Scrimshaw was subbed out against the Dockers with concussion, meaning he will miss Saturday’s match against Melbourne.
“As we saw on the weekend, Jack was subbed out of the game in the second quarter after receiving a knock to the head,” Boyd said.
“The concussion wasn't definitive at the time, it was quite difficult to assess, but obviously with anything around the head, we want to exercise caution so he was subbed out of the game.
“In follow-up tests on Monday, it has been confirmed that it was a concussion - he had some symptoms on Monday - which will mean Jack will now enter concussion protocols.
“On a positive note though, Jack was able to start jogging today (Tuesday).”
