Has Jack Billings played his last game for St Kilda?
Out of contract and eligible for restricted free agency, Billings injured his hamstring at training on Tuesday and is expected to miss the club's final three games of the home and away season.
AFL Media reporter Mitch Cleary understands that the Saints and the 25-year-old are yet to agree on a new deal after early talks.
The former No.3 draft pick averages a tick under 21 disposals and just below a goal a match across his 144-game career in red, white and black.
Speaking on SEN’s Bob and Andy, Julian de Stoop, Bob Murphy and Andy Maher discussed Billings’ future and the “conundrum” the Saints coud be faced with.
De Stoop: “Has Jack Billings played his last game for St Kilda?”
Murphy: “That wouldn’t shock me.
“The conundrum there is what do you get for him?”
De Stoop: “You wouldn’t get a first-round pick for Jack Billings. It would be a second-round pick.”
Maher: “You might go for a like for unlike somewhere. If there’s a type you need.
“If they’ve got enough Billings’, but they might need a couple of something or others. So they go to a club that’s stacked and say, ‘you give us him and we’ll give you him because you need a bit of that, and we need a bit of this’.”
Billings is averaging 20 disposals and 3.2 inside 50s per game this season and has also chimed in with 14 goals.
The inconsistent Saints appear set to miss the finals after three straight losses to Port Adelaide, West Coast and Carlton.
