West Coast premiership player Karl Langdon has listed his top seven locks to make the 2021 All-Australian team.
The initial 40-man squad was announced on Monday night with seven players selected from minor premiers Melbourne.
A total of 21 players are in contention to receive their first All-Australian blazer when the team is unveiled on Thursday night.
Speaking on Sportsday WA, Langdon says seven players should be selected in the final 22.
See the seven players below:
7. Max Gawn (Melbourne)
“Maxy Gawn has been the standout ruckman this year.
“I think the lock in the ruck position is Maxy Gawn.”
6. Jack Steele (St Kilda)
“Jack Steele has been incredibly good. The game that he played yesterday (Sunday) was just outstanding.
“The things that he does inside and out, he’s been able to kick a volume of goals, he’s one of the leading tacklers with almost an average of nine in the competition.
“He’s just been incredible.”
5. Sam Walsh (Carlton)
“A bloke who has played in a team that has been really disappointing, but his ability to get from contest to contest and finish off games with speed and pace, he doesn’t look like he even sweats up.
“I’m talking about Sam Walsh from the Carlton Football Club.
“Just an unbelievably good young player and a player that’s going to be around, barring injury, for a long, long, long time.”
4. Christian Petracca (Melbourne)
“A goal-scoring machine for the Melbourne Football Club in Christian Petracca.
“He’s just able to hit the scoreboard, 20+ goals in his season, and his drive and strength around the contest.”
3. Clayton Oliver (Melbourne)
“A bloke who I think is going to outpoll him (Petracca) in the Brownlow Medal.
“I thought he was the difference in the game against Geelong on the weekend.
“I’m talking about Clayton Oliver. He has been incredibly good.”
2. Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)
“I know the Bulldogs have fallen off the perch and he didn’t play well on the weekend – and it might cost him when it comes to the final count on Brownlow night.
“It’s Marcus Bontempelli.
“He started off this season in fine fettle. Prolific when it comes to scoring – 20+ plus goals again.”
1. Ollie Wines (Port Adelaide)
“Hasn’t he just been brilliant?
“He was the reason why his side won on the weekend.
“He is a lock for the All-Australian team.”
