Port Adelaide ruckman Peter Ladhams is exploring his options in this trade period, but the Power are still confident they will retain his services.
The 23-year-old has spent most of his career playing a secondary ruck role behind Scott Lycett at Port and is looking to see if a larger role could be found elsewhere.
Power general manager of football Chris Davies confirmed Ladhams is looking around, but says the contracted ruckman will remain with the club unless a suitor can satisfy them.
“With regards to Pete and a number of players across our list from time to time they have a want to explore what they want to achieve from their career,” Davies told AFL Trade Radio.
“I think in fairness to Pete, he’s looking to get more ruck time. We’re probably saying at the moment we’ve got Scott Lycett ahead of him.
“That’s not to say we don’t think Pete can be a real significant player and as you say he’s contracted to us.
“So unless there’s a proper outcome for both parties then I would suggest right now that Peter is going to be at Port Adelaide next year.
“This trade period is about players as much as anything exploring what they want to achieve in their careers and Pete is in a hurry to get to that spot.
“We think there’s a player in front of him at the moment who we have a large degree of faith in. That will play out.”
Ladhams has played 32 career games for the Power since being selected with pick nine in the 2016 Rookie Draft – 17 of those outings were in 2021.
“I think it’s unlikely that he’s at Port Adelaide next year”, Kane Cornes said in response to the audio on SEN’s Whateley.
