Collingwood ruckman Max Lynch has requested a trade to Hawthorn, football boss Graham Wright has revealed.
The 23-year-old big man has struggled for opportunity so far during his career, with Brodie Grundy locked into a long-term deal at the club having cemented the number one ruck role at the Pies.
Confirming the trade request on Monday night, Wright admitted Hawthorn hadn’t “put much forward” currently, but were hopeful of working through a trade before Wednesday night’s deadline.
“(Max Lynch) has told us that he’d like to look across and get to Hawthorn,” he said on Sportsday.
“His management has made us aware of that (trade request); we’d like to keep him to be honest. What we discussed was him exploring the opportunity to be a first ruck somewhere and Hawthorn has said that the opportunity may present itself.
“I’ve spoken to (Hawthorn) a couple of times and they haven’t put much forward at this stage, but we’ll see how that goes.
“In a perfect world we’d like to retain him, but we understand he’s behind Brodie Grundy so we’re trying to find some blue sky for him.”
Lynch has played three games during his career, including two in 2021.
