Ian 'Bobby' Hill’s manager Colin Young concedes he’ll have a chat with his client next week about whether they’ll request another trade at the end of the 2022 season.
The 21-year-old asked for a move to Essendon during the recently-completed trade period, but GWS refused to release the contracted small forward.
Hill requested a move back to Victoria to help provide added support around his young family ahead of the birth of his first child.
Young said despite the “pretty deflating” mood around Hill’s family after the move didn’t go through before Wednesday’s trade deadline, he was committed to working through any issues ahead of next season commencing.
“That’s a conversation (about whether he’ll request a trade again) we’ll probably have with Bobby and his family next week,” he said on Sportsday.
“Bobby took off to see his family and his dad actually stayed with (manager) Andrew (McDougall) and I all the way through yesterday listening to all our phone calls and then we went for a beer later and it was pretty deflating.
“We all agreed to catch up next week and have a chat, Bobby is out of contract next year so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes with the support at GWS.”
Hill played 17 games for the Giants in 2021 and has one more year left on his current deal.
