Tigers cut four, commit to re-drafting duo

Richmond has delisted four players in preparation for the upcoming AFL National Draft.

Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Ryan Garthwaite, Noah Cumberland and Bigoa Nyuon were cut from the club on Friday afternoon.

However, the Tigers have committed to re-selecting Cumberland and Nyuon in the upcoming rookie draft.

Both didn’t play an AFL game but featured in the VFL in 2021.

Meanwhile, Eggmolesse-Smith and Garthwaite, both 23, played nine and 14 games respectively at AFL level.

Eggmolesse-Smith spent four years at Tigerland, while Garthwaite was on the list for five seasons.

Richmond general manager of football talent Blair Hartley credited both players for their contributions to the club.

“We thank Ryan for his continued effort and application across five years at Richmond,” he said in a club statement.

“Derek likewise worked really hard throughout his four years with us, since initially being selected as our first ever NGA prospect.

“They both played a role in our recent success, and we wish them well for the future.”

Richmond lost Callum Coleman-Jones and Mabior Chol in the AFL Trade Period but gained former Roo Robbie Tarrant.
