Has the penny dropped for Collingwood ace Jordan De Goey?

The 25-year-old is already preparing for next season, putting in the hard yards at The W Training Facility in California as he looks to build on his strong finish to 2021.

De Goey increased his midfield minutes in the second half of the year, averaging 29 disposals, five inside 50s and four clearances in his last nine games.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Garry Lyon and Tim Watson discussed De Goey’s off-season training and whether he has turned a corner in his career.

Lyon: “He looks absolutely fantastic.”

Watson: “Unbelievable.”

Lyon: “He’s been criticised in the past for getting out of shape over the summer, but he looked in ripping shape over there.”

Watson: “That’s exactly what all the Collingwood fans would love to see, a fitter than ever Jordan De Goey. Because we know he’s got talent.”

Lyon: “Two words: Penny dropped.”

Watson: “Do you think it has?”

Lyon: “I think it has.”

Watson: “It drops at different stages in people’s lives, doesn’t it?”

De Goey finished fourth in Collingwood’s best and fairest and is due to come out of contract next year.

He’s kicked 155 goals in 118 games for the Magpies since being selected with pick No.5 in the 2014 National Draft.
