GWS Giants have signed delisted utility Jarrod Brander.
The 22-year-old developed through the GWS Academy before being taken by West Coast with pick 13 in the 2017 National Draft, with a zone change meaning the Giants were originally denied priority access to him.
It’s a homecoming for Brander, who grew up in NSW before heading to the Eagles, where he struggled for game time in his four seasons at the club.
GWS football boss Jason McCartney said he was thrilled to welcome Brander back to the club.
“We’re really excited to welcome Jarrod back to the Giants,” he said in a club statement.
“We obviously had a strong connection with him up until his draft year and have tracked his career closely.
“We identified a need to bring in another tall option and given we’ve lost some experience through retirements and delistings, it’s great to add a player who has already been in the system for a few years.”
Brander played 11 games in 2021, averaging 15 touches and almost five marks.
