Adam Zampa’s performances with the ball, particularly in the middle overs, were crucial in Australia’s charge towards winning a maiden men’s T20 World Cup.
The leg-spinner finished the tournament with 13 wickets – the most of any Aussie bowler – at a miserly economy rate of 5.81, reaffirming his status as the country’s premier white-ball tweaker.
Zampa took 1/26 off four overs in Australia’s World Cup final win over New Zealand in Dubai, taking the key wicket of big-hitting Blackcaps opener Martin Guptill.
Australia’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch declared Zampa his “man of the tournament”.
“Zampa’s been unbelievable,” Finch told SEN Breakfast.
“His skill is so high. His confidence in his ability to get good players out.
“It’s such an important role in T20 cricket, as a leg-spinner it can be a brutal game. You can have games where you get absolutely met and you can have games where you can get a few cheapies.

“It was a demolition job”: Mitch Marsh finds vindication in T20 World Cup triumph
“The way that he bowled, for me, he was man of the tournament. Davey (Warner) pipped him at the post at the end there, but he was fantastic.”
The 29-year-old took the equal-second most wickets at the T20 World Cup and was without doubt one of the standout players of the tournament.
Warner was named Player of the Tournament after scoring 289 runs at an average of 48.16 at the top of the order.
