Hodgson's Tigers move to happen “very shortly”

Canberra’s Josh Hodgson is expected to join the Wests Tigers imminently.

The 32-year-old had a tough year in 2021 amid a reported falling out with coach Ricky Stuart, also losing the captaincy.

The veteran rake is contracted to the Raiders for next year on a deal reportedly worth around $900,000, however it’s understood the Tigers are only prepared to pay just over half of that contract.

Despite the discrepancy between the two clubs in terms of his deal, SEN’s Michelle Bishop believes a deal will happen “very shortly*.

“I am hearing that the Josh Hodgson move is not far off, from the Raiders to the Wests Tigers,” she told SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“They had considered Api Koroisau at one stage, but the Hodgson thing, I’m hearing there’s a bit playing in the background in terms of his manager trying to get the best money deal for him, which he’s of course entitled to.

“So that’s again between the Raiders and the Tigers to work out who’s going to pay what and how he’s going to find his way, but we will see him at the Tigers very shortly I’m told.”

Hodgson comes out of contract in 2022, having played over 150 games for the Raiders.
