Veteran Docker, star Eagle and rising Sun sign new contracts

Western Australian stars Elliot Yeo and Michael Walters have both signed contract extensions, while a talented young sun has also added to his deal.

Yeo, a two-time John Worsfold Medallist, was due to come out of contract at the end of 2023 but has quietly added an extra year to his contract to secure his time at West Coast through until 2024.

The 28-year-old has been restricted to just 22 games across the last two seasons with multiple injuries, however the dynamic midfielder’s defensive and offensive qualities make him one of the Eagles' most important players.

Meanwhile, Walters was due to become a free agent at the end of this season but has continued the faith to add an extra year to his deal, tying him to Fremantle until the end of 2023.

The 31-year-old had an indifferent season in 2021, struggling to make an impact as he was thrown into different roles in the forward line.

However, the 2019 All Australian is among the classiest Dockers and will look to bounce back to his dynamic best as Fremantle push for the top eight in 2022.

On top of those contracts, Gold Coast has also secured a major coup by re-signing talented youngster Elijah Hollands on a two-year deal.

Hollands was selected with pick seven in the 2020 AFL National Draft with the thought he would be unlikely to play last year as he rehabbed a torn ACL.

He featured in three VFL games late last season and is now believed to be fully fit during the Suns’ pre-season.

The 19-year-old is now contracted to 2024.

Hollands is a dynamic forward-midfielder who is hoped to be a high-impact player for the Suns.
