The Great Southern Stand at the MCG will be renamed the S.K. Warne Stand.
The news was confirmed by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews early on Saturday afternoon as tribute to Shane Warne, who passed away on Friday.
I’ve just informed the Warne family that the Government will rename the Great Southern Stand at the MCG - the place he took his hat trick and 700th wicket - to honor Shane and his contribution to the game.

The S.K. Warne Stand will be a permanent tribute to an amazing Victorian.
The Australian cricketing legend was holidaying in Thailand but could not be revived after suffering a suspected heart attack.
The tribute, as described by Andrews, will be permanent.
Warne was a proud Victorian and famously took his 700th wicket at the MCG, and a statue stands of him outside the famous ground.
The Victorian government has also offered a state funeral for Warne, with details yet to be confirmed.
