Knights hoping to lure Raider and NRLW star to Newcastle as “package deal”

Canberra’s Adam Elliott could be on the move again in the off-season as Newcastle have reportedly flagged interest in his services.

Elliott, 27, joined the Raiders this season after being let go by Canterbury following several off-field indiscretions, but he’s yet to properly find his feet for the Green Machine.

Despite his sluggish start, the Knights have reportedly identified the Bega native as a replacement for the outgoing Mitch Barnett.

As Elliott is off-contract at the end of the season, SEN’s Michelle Bishop says the Knights are also keen on luring his partner Brisbane NRLW star Millie Boyle to the club so the pair can join as a “package deal”.

“Talking Adam Elliott now, he’s on Newcastle’s radar,” Bishop said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“They’re keen to lure Millie Boyle there as well, she’s currently at the Broncos, they want a package deal.

“Well, they see Elliot as a good replacement for Mitch Barnett who’s off to the Warriors.

“They have struggled, she’s been based in Brisbane and he’s in Canberra, so it’s been a long-distance relationship.

“I suppose that might be a win-win for them.”

While joining the same club as his partner may be an enticing prospect, Bishop pondered whether the forward would feel loyalty towards the Raiders after they gave him a rugby league lifeline.

“Does loyalty play a bit of a part of this with Adam Elliott and the Canberra Raiders?,” Bishop said.

“They picked him up at an extremely vulnerable time after he was given the boot by the Bulldogs after several off-field indiscretions.

“So, you’d have to think there’d be something there in it for the Raiders if they didn’t want to let him go.”

Elliot will face his former side Canterbury for the first time on Friday as the Raiders host the Bulldogs at GIO Stadium.
