Former New Zealand Warriors coach Tony Kemp has been called up to join Israel “Izzy” Dagg on the newly formed “Izzy & Kempy for Breakfast” on SENZ.
Officially stepping into the role this morning, Kemp will replace Brendon McCullum as co-host on SENZ’s breakfast line up following his appointment as England’s new Test Coach. McCullum will remain connected to SENZ where he will continue to be heard on the breakfast program while in New Zealand.
Kemp already has a strong link with SENZ, filling in for McCullum on the breakfast program since March 7 and providing expert commentary on Warriors Live for all Warriors matches.
Kemp said he was excited by the challenge and working even closer with the SENZ team.
“He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata! (What is the most important thing in the world? It is people!)
“It has been an amazing journey so far with the SENZ team and I’m over the moon to have secured a permanent spot with the new Skipper Izzy and teammate Louis on the breakfast team. Baz and Izzy have built a solid platform and I can’t wait to continue the SENZ journey here in Aotearoa!”
Dagg shared his excitement to work alongside Kemp and said his expert knowledge of NRL would be a valued addition to the team.
“It’s great to have Kempy part of the team. He has been fantastic the last couple of months. His insights and knowledge on all sports, particularly NRL, is excellent. It’s obviously a passionate sport that Kiwis love to talk about, so it’s great to have him part of the team.”
SENZ Content Manager Reuben Bradley said "Tony's professionalism and enthusiasm for the station is infectious, and it's brilliant to have him as a permanent member of the team. I'm really looking forward to working closely with both Izzy and Kempy as we continue to grow SENZ around New Zealand."
