Son of club legend one of three Bombers players delisted

Essendon has delisted Tom Cutler, Garrett McDonagh and Tom Hird.

The Bombers informed the trio that their contracts would not be renewed for 2023.

Cutler played 30 games for Essendon after arriving in a trade from Brisbane at the end of 2019.

McDonagh joined the Bombers as a mature-aged recruit in the 2021 draft while Hird – the son of club legend and former coach James – was signed in early 2020 as a Category B rookie.

The pair didn’t make a senior appearance for the club.

General Manager of Football Josh Mahoney said in a club statement: “It is always a tough time of the year when we make changes to our playing list.

“These three players handled this news with great professionalism, and we wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

“They will always be welcome at the Essendon Football Club.”
