The AFL will bin the music after goals in Saturday’s Grand Final.
It can be revealed the league will push the mute button on the tunes that have enraged the majority of fans during September, with the MCG receiving hundreds of complaints.
Unlike the home-and-away season, the AFL controls the finals series and had been eager to introduce music after goals in a bid to heighten the match day experience.
Critics have argued the music is an unnecessarily tacky addition and too loud – a view given to the AFL by MCG chiefs in the wake of the Geelong-Brisbane preliminary final.
The AFL has responded to fan feedback by removing the music for the Geelong-Sydney decider.
