St Kilda’s Hunter Clark is reportedly considering backflipping on his touted trade to North Melbourne.
Clark was originally considered “likely” to land at Arden Street this off-season, but SEN’s Sam Edmund believes uncertainty around Alastair Clarkson’s future could see him stay put at Moorabbin.
With Clarkson stepping away from his role amid investigations into the mistreatment of First Nations player during his time at Hawthorn, Edmund expects Clark to reconsider the trade.
“We’re getting asked if there are any updates on Hunter Clark and the North Melbourne interest,” Edmund said on AFL Trade Radio.
“He was weighing up a move to Arden Street.
“But I think this might be one where the uncertainty around Alastair Clarkson might work against this particular player acquisition. Not all of them, but I think this one.
“I think the player (Clark) is overseas at the moment, so that picture will become clearer when he returns from his break.
“So, we’ll see where that one goes, the uncertainty around Alastair Clarkson might have a bearing on Hunter Clark’s future.”
Leading journalist Damian Barrett doesn’t expect the current North Melbourne coach to be at the helm for Round 1 due to the timeframe the investigation will need to run its course.
Fremantle’s Griffin Logue is another trade target who committed to North Melbourne as a result of the four-time premiership coach’s arrival.
