Aaron Francis is set to move to Sydney as the Swans attempt to breathe new life into another stalled career.
Nine months after delisted Saint Paddy McCartin was signed as a rookie, the Swans will swoop on Francis in this year’s trade period as they look to bolster their defence.
Francis, 25, was taken by the Bombers with pick No.6 in the 2015 national draft, but has failed to deliver on his potential as a forward or defender in seven seasons at the club.
He has regularly been linked to moves away from Essendon, including in 2017 when he requested a trade home to South Australia.
But it can be revealed that the Swans are committed to the 193cm key position player and a deal will soon be struck between Sydney and the Bombers.
McCartin, the No.1 pick in 2014, spectacularly revived his career at the SCG in 2022 in one of the stories of the season.
