Ross Lyon has confirmed he met with St Kilda officials on Monday.
The former Saints coach is reported to have spent “more than four hours” in discussions with club figures at a residence on Monday, per 7 News’ Tom Browne.
Lyon told 7 News: “I just had a meeting inside then… it’s a big step, isn’t it?”

Lyon also admitted he had an interest a role as St Kilda's next coach.
The meeting marks a significant development in St Kilda’s search for a new coach. Lyon was linked to the role almost immediately after Brett Ratten was sacked on Friday morning after the club declared they believed the playing list was underachieving.
Lyon previously coached St Kilda to 76 wins from 121 games before jumping ship to Fremantle.
He was strongly linked to Carlton last year but denied interest in Essendon’s position.
