Port Adelaide are excited about what former first-round pick Josh Sinn can do in his second season at the AFL level.
Sinn was restricted to just one game in his debut season as he dealt with osteitis pubis, but SEN SA’s Michelangelo Rucci believes a change of luck could see him emerge in 2023.
With Karl Amon departing via free agency, Rucci feels Sinn can make the wing position his own if he gets himself fit.
“I think the one that needs a change from luck after what happened last year … is Josh Sinn from Port Adelaide,” Rucci told SEN SA Breakfast.
“The opportunity is there, when you look at what Port Adelaide’s line-up will be in 2023, we know they’re going to have heaps of options in attack.
“We know with their defence, the debate that we’ve had for a long time is that they’re stacked with half-back flankers that can run.
“But what do they do on the wings? Who are their standout wingmen for Port Adelaide at the moment?
“Josh Sinn’s opportunity is really there this pre-season provided he is 100 per cent.”
Rucci went as far as to call Sinn his “player to watch” this pre-season, provided that he gets past the groin issues that hampered his 2022 campaign.
“I’d put him in the category for the player to watch this summer,” Rucci said.
“I just hope that he doesn’t go through the turmoils he went through this year with injury.
“We’ll see how he looks this summer, fingers are crossed he gets through his groin issues.”
Sinn originally joined the Power via pick No. 12 in the 2021 National Draft.
