Eels in “box seat” but Dolphins “coming hard” at Dylan Brown

The NRL’s newest franchise the Dolphins are set to aggressively pursue Parramatta five-eighth Dylan Brown with a huge contract offer.

After missing out on Cameron Munster, The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio says the Dolphins have set their sights on Brown who has an existing relationship with club recruitment boss Peter O’Sullivan.

As he comes off contract at the end of 2023, Brown is now free to sign with any rival club for 2024 and beyond and the Dolphins are having a “massive crack” at luring him to Redcliffe.

“Here we see the Dolphins coming hard at Dylan Brown,” Riccio told SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“The connection here is Peter O’Sullivan, who is head of recruitment at the Dolphins.

“He had a massive crack at Dylan Brown when he was working at the Warriors only 12 months ago.

“They have a relationship … they’ve stayed in contact ever since and now O’Sullivan is trying to do the job of getting Brown to the Dolphins.”

While the Dolphins are set to table an attractive offer, Riccio feels Brown is more likely to stay put with the Eels due to the close bonds he has with coach Brad Arthur.

“It’ll have to be in excess of $1 million (a season) to pull him out of Parramatta,” Riccio said.

“If I’m an Eels fan, I still hold a lot of confidence that he stays.

“Brown and Brad Arthur have a very close relationship, we saw Brown’s development this year compared to the season before … we saw his footy evolve.

“I think that will continue to evolve under the consistency of being coached by Brad Arthur.

“I’m pretty confident … I think the Eels are in the box seat.”

Aged 22, Brown is set to enter the prime years of his career as he has 82 games of NRL experience under his belt.
