Sattler hails Broncos teenager the next Cameron Smith

SEN’s Scott Sattler believes Brisbane Broncos teenager Blake Mozer will be the next great hooker in the NRL.

Mozer has been a member of the Broncos academy since 13 and signed a contract with the club to remain at Red Hill until 2025.

Sattler said the hype around Mozer is justified and compared him to the games record holder and arguably the greatest hooker of all time, Cameron Smith.

“I’m really excited about this (Broncos) number nine in Blake Mozer,” said on SENQ 693 Breakfast.

“We all keep talking about Corey Paix and Billy Walters.

“Blake Mozer is the kid. He could become another Cameron Smith this kid.

“He is a pretty special talent.

“He won’t start the season but by the middle of the season and towards the end of the year, he will be the (starting) number nine for the Broncos.

“Playing against men in 2022 will be good for his development.”

Another hooker making big noise in Queensland is former Sydney Rooster Sam Verrills, who has joined the Gold Coast Titans on a two-year deal.

Sattler said that the 24-year-old is the missing link for a Titans side entering the 2023 season under a bit of pressure.

“I’m really excited about what Sam Verrills, the Roosters premiership hooker, will bring to that side,” he said.

“One position they have really lacked is a number nine who asks questions.

“I’m expecting the Titans to have a big season and Sam Verrills to make a huge difference.”

The Broncos travel to Penrith to take on the Panthers in the first round whilst the Titans play the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt Oval.
